Cleaning, Restoration & Repointing

The Church of God, Stoke Newington

Built in the 1880s for Stoke Newington's Welsh community, this Victorian church became part of the World Fellowship Group in 1985. We DOFF cleaned all the existing stonework, replaced the eroded Bath stone quoins to the front buttresses, and installed a new Bath stone plinth course and foundation stones. Restoration and repointing of the Kent ragstone walling followed, along with plastic repairs to the windows and painted areas.

Stonework and Repointing

Every elevation was DOFF cleaned, lifting decades of grime and biological growth from the stone without damaging the surface.

Stripping Back a Century of Grime.

The Bath stone quoins on the front buttresses had eroded past saving, so we cut and fitted new ones, along with a fresh plinth course and foundation stones underneath.

The Kent ragstone walling was restored section by section and repointed throughout, keeping the rough, weathered character the church has always had.

Plastic repairs brought the window surrounds and painted areas back into shape, closing out the restoration from the ground up.
